Unofficial PasswordBank support for Firefox

We understand the disappointment because of the discontinued support for the Firefox in Protector Suite...

Let us inform you, that there is an unofficial version of PasswordBank extension for Firefox 13 and higher.

There are certain issues linked to this extension, but since this is not an official release there is absolutely no support in case of troubles...

Requirements:

Installation:

  • uninstall current PasswordBank extension from Firefox -> Tools -> Addons -> Extensions
  • download  pbff7134u.xpi extesion
  • To install PasswordBank extension simply drag'n'drop the XPI file on the browser window and confirm the installation. Alternatively, you can install the extension if you run Firefox -> go to File -> Open -> *.XPI...

Known issues:

  1. Certain webpages cannot be registered
On some web pages, when you click "Register" in the BioMenu, you may get error "Firefox xx.x: This is not a supported web browser window.". In such case, the only workaround is to use Internet Explorer or Google Chrome for the registration process. You should be able to replay this registration in Firefox then, see below for more information.

  2. Certain webpages cannot be replayed
If you swipe your finger but instead of logging in, the BioMenu pops up, then you need to find the page in the BioMenu > Registered Sites and launch it from here. Then new Firefox windows is opened, the credentials are replayed and you are logged in...

  3. No support for HTML5 elements - fixed on 09/06/2012
PasswordBank does not recognize some new HTML5 tags. For example <input type="email"> is not recognized, so for the HTML5 enabled forms it may happen that only password field is replayed. You may use eWallet (and manually drag'n'drop/copy'n'paste credentials) as a workaround in such cases...

  4. Certain issues when more login forms are opened in different tabs at the same time
Under some circumstances, when more login forms are opened in Firefox tabs, the Protector Suite pick wrong (inactive) tab, so the replay process doesn't work properly. The workaround is to open pages rather in new Firefox windows than tabs...

  5. Occasional PasswordBank extension crash
This should not affect the use of the Firefox/Protector Suite in any way. Despite a crash is reported by Firefox, you should still be able to swipe your finger to login...
