Generally there are several Mac OS-X versions released by Apple. Each version is described by its name and number. Below is the list of supported Mac OS-X version:
- 10.4: "Tiger"
- 10.5: "Leopard"
- 10.6: "Snow Leopard"
- 10.7: "Lion"
- 10.8: "Mountain Lion"
To determine which Mac OS-X version you have please follow the steps below:
- Click the Apple menu item in the upper left corner
- Select About this Mac (first item)

- The version number is clearly displayed on the dialog that appears.
