Identifying your Fingerprint Sensor Model

How do I know which fingerprint sensor model I have?

Use the following procedure to obtain your sensor VID (Vendor IDentification) and PID (Product IDentification) Number and then use the below table to map that VID and PID to a sensor model.

1) Go Start > Right Click Computer > Left Click Manage.

2) Select Device Manager on the left, and on the right select Personal Identification Devices and then right click the sensor you want information on and click properties.

****NOTE***** If you do not have a driver loaded, the sensor model will not appear as the name of device.  Look for a device named "Fingerprint Sensor" under "Other Devices" or "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" and proceed as directed below.

3) Select the Details Tab and then select Hardware Id's from the Property Dropdown Box.  To identify your sensor you will need one of these strings.

Please use the 4 characters following "VID_" and "PID_" to determine which sensor you have using the two tables below. In the case of our example - the 4 characters following VID_ are "08ff" and PID_ are "168B". That points on AT fingerprint reader with AES1660 sensor.

"AT" Fingerprint Readers:
